How Research Desire collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use this website or work with us.
On this page
In short
We collect only what you give us through our forms, email or WhatsApp, plus the basic technical data any website receives. We use it to reply to you and to provide the support you ask for. We never sell it or use it for advertising. Your research materials are confidential and seen only by the consultants on your engagement. This website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data at any time.
1. Who we are
Research Desire (“we”, “us”) provides research guidance and support services to scholars and researchers. We decide why and how your personal data is processed, which makes us the data fiduciary for it under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
This policy covers personal data we collect through this website, by email, by phone or WhatsApp, and during an engagement. Our contact details are in section 11.
2. What we collect
- Contact details you give us: your name, email address, phone number and, if you choose, your city or country.
- Information about your research: your field, degree, research stage, topic, methodology, timeline, the services you are interested in, and anything you write in a message.
- Materials you share during an engagement, such as drafts, data files, code, guidelines and supervisor feedback.
- Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp, and notes from our calls with you.
- Billing details needed for invoices and payment records.
- Technical data that our hosting provider records automatically when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request.
We do not ask for identity documents, bank account details or health information through this website. If your research data includes personal data about other people, such as survey respondents, please share it in anonymised form wherever you can.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a written scope.
- To provide the services you engage us for, including reviewing your materials and delivering the agreed work.
- To keep you updated on progress and to arrange calls.
- To issue invoices and keep the records that tax and accounting laws require.
- To keep this website secure and working.
We use your data only for these purposes. We do not sell or rent it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not send marketing messages unless you ask us to.
We rely on the consent you give when you submit a form or contact us, and on the other grounds the law allows, such as keeping records the law requires. You can withdraw your consent at any time, as explained in section 9.
4. Forms, WhatsApp and email
When you submit the contact or consultation form, your answers are delivered to our email inbox through a form-delivery service. We use them only to respond to you.
The consultation form saves a draft of your answers in your browser’s session storage, so they are not lost between steps. The draft stays on your device, is not sent to us until you submit, and is cleared when you submit the form or close the tab.
If you message us on WhatsApp, the message is carried by WhatsApp, and WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies to how it handles it. Emails and phone calls pass through our email and telephone providers in the same way.
5. Cookies and analytics
This website does not set cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising, and it does not load analytics, advertising or social media scripts. Fonts and images are served from this website rather than from third-party services.
If we ever add analytics or similar tools, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before they run.
6. Who we share it with
- Consultants and specialists working on your engagement, who are bound by confidentiality.
- Service providers that host this website, deliver form submissions and email, and store files, only so that they can provide those services to us.
- Professional advisers, and government or regulatory authorities where the law requires it.
We never share your research materials with your institution, a journal or anyone else unless you ask us to.
Some of our service providers may store data on servers outside India. We use established providers and transfer data only where Indian law allows it.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement: for as long as we need to reply and follow up, and then deleted.
- Research materials you share: for the length of the engagement and its revision window, and deleted on request when the project closes.
- Invoices and payment records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own policies.
8. How we protect it
Only the people working on your engagement can access your data. We use password-protected accounts and encrypted connections, and we sign a confidentiality agreement on request.
No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
9. Your rights
Subject to the law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- ask us to correct, complete or update it;
- ask us to delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to; and
- raise a grievance with us and, if you are not satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 11. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond as soon as we can and within the time the law allows.
10. Children
Our services are meant for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without that consent.
